The World Health Organization says more than 3,000 health workers worldwide have been infected since the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic.

The WHO Director-General, TEDROS GHEBREYESUS who announced this in a series of tweets to mark the 2020 World Health Day, says many other health workers had paid the ultimate price in the fight against the virus.

GHEBREYESUS stated that governments must ensure that health workers have the medical masks and other personal protective equipment they need.

He added that as of April 6, nearly 300,000 people have recovered from the COVID-19 infection.
