The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has described the easing of the lockdown by the Federal Government as premature.
This was made known in a statement by the President of the Association, DR. FRANCIS FADUYILE, in Abuja.
FADUYILE said the recent incidence of COVID-19 tilts the epidemiological curve towards an upward spike and urged Nigeria to learn from Ghana, where the same action produced 100 percent increase in infection rate in just a week.
He also noted that the revelation by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) that the nation lacks bed spaces worsens this frightening scenario.
FADUYILE advised states to intensify efforts through mass enlightenment campaigns in the face of rising infection rates while also calling for palliatives to reach the needy.
