INEC Chairman Professor Mahmoud Yakubu has described as fake, the purported report that a court judgement has mandated INEC to resume continuous registration exercise.

Professor Yakubu made this assertion in an ongoing interactive session with media executives from all over Nigeria.

The INEC Chairman also gave assurances that the electoral body is committed to the protection of personnel and materials in the riverine parts of the country, ahead of the 2023 general election.

He allayed fears of disenfranchisement of people displaced by either insurgency or natural disasters in the IDPs across the country.

Professor Mahmoud Yakubu said that since 2015 general election, INEC has ensured that displaced persons are not disenfranchised. He insisted that 2023 will not be an exception.
