As Christians in Nigeria join their counterparts around the globe to mark this year’s Easter celebration, most governors in Nigeria have enjoined them to imbibe love and other virtues that will engender peace and unity in the country.

In his Easter message, Rivers State Governor, SIMINALAYI FUBARA, called on the people of the State to, in the spirit of Easter, emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by living in love and promoting peace, and unity.

In a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, NELSON CHUKWUDI, Governor FUBARA noted that the Easter celebration signals an assurance of a new beginning, not only to Christians but for the entire State.

The Cross River State Governor, BASSEY OTU, in his message, called on citizens to reflect deeply on the selfless life of Jesus Christ, who laid down his life for the redemption of mankind.

In the Easter message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, LINUS OBOGO, Governor OTU maintained that it was only through selflessness and sacrifice that Cross River State and indeed, Nigeria can attain the desired economic progress.

The Edo State Governor, GODWIN OBASEKI, urged Christians to reflect on the lessons of the Easter celebration, charging them not to lose hope amid the economic headwinds.

Governor OBASEKI said Nigerians must remain resilient and use the period of the celebration to seek the face of God, share joy with neighbours and work towards a peaceful and progressive nation.

In an Easter broadcast, Governor UMO ENO of Akwa Ibom State used the occasion to restate his sincere commitment to make life more meaningful for the people in the face of the current economic realities.

He therefore solicited the people’s continued support and prayers for the success of his administration.

While using his Easter message to reiterate that his government is committed to getting the people out of suffering, hardship, and misery within the shortest time possible, Governor FRANCIS NWIFURU of Ebonyi State also urged the people to use this period to pray for peace, social cohesion, progress, and healings in all areas of our national life.

Abia State Governor, ALEX OTTI said that even in the quest to build an economically vibrant state, the welfare of the citizens is uppermost.

Governor OTTI insisted that if Jesus could sacrifice His life to save mankind from eternal death, then no sacrifice can be too big to improve the life of the very people for whom the Saviour paid the ultimate price.

Governor LUCKY AIYEDATIWA of Ondo State urged Christians to show more love to one another and preach against hate.

According to him, Easter evokes the resilience of the human spirit not to give up in the face of seemingly daunting challenges of life.

Governor HOPE UZODIMMA of Imo State urged Christians to renew their hope for a better tomorrow.

According to him, the hope of the Christians would be met in the resurrected Jesus Christ.

Enugu State Governor, PETER MBAH urged the people to emulate the virtues of self-sacrifice and love as exemplified by Christ.

Governor MBAH also urged them to hold fast to their faith in the midst of the present socio-economic challenges, saying they would eventually become a thing of the past.

Anambra State Governor, CHARLES SOLUDO admonished the people to concern themselves more with nation-building.

He affirmed that Easter is a time of reflection and transformation, and reminded celebrants of the profound lessons of love, selflessness, sacrifice, resilience, compassion and renewal embodied by Jesus Christ.

Niger State Governor, MOHAMMED BAGO called on Christians to sustain their prayers to God to end the insecurity tormenting the state.

The governor expressed his belief that prayers can go a long way in complementing the government’s efforts in totally eradicating insecurity.
