Ghanaian World War Two veteran Private JOSEPH HAMMOND has been awarded the Commonwealth Points of Light award for his fundraising efforts in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.
Private HAMMOND walked two miles a day for a week in May, raising 35 thousand dollars for frontline health workers and veterans in Africa, after being inspired by Captain TOM MOORE, who raised more than 35 million dollars for the UK's National Health Service.
HAMMOND after receiving the award says he is overwhelmed and filled with joy that the Queen of England, Elizabeth II honoured his efforts.
