The Federal Government has alerted states to the water release from Lagdo Dam in Cameroon.
It made this known in a statement signed by the Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, Umar Muhammed.
MUHAMMED noted that the authorities of the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon will initiate controlled water releases starting from Tuesday, September 17. He listed 11 states at risk. They are Adamawa, Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, and Rivers.
Meanwhile, following the proposed release of water from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon into the River Niger and River Benue, states along the flood path have started planning temporary shelters for affected residents.
