France's new Prime Minister JEAN CASTEX has warned that a new major corona virus outbreak in the country could prove irreversibly damaging.

He added, however, that any further measures to control the spread of Covid-19 would have to be balanced against the impact on the economy and what the French people would be able to cope with.

Prime Minister CASTEX said France must be ready for a second wave, but the country would not proceed to a general lockdown because they would not be able to bear it economically and socially.
