The meeting between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government ended in a stalemate for the third time, as the parties again failed to resolve the issues around the payment platform for salaries and other benefits.
At the resumed meeting in Abuja yesterday which lasted for over two hours, the parties could not resolve the contentious issues around the payment system to be deployed.
ASUU also insisted that the 30billion naira Earned Academic Allowances offered by the Federal Government would be for its members alone which the government team said was not feasible.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, CHRIS NGIGE, while briefing newsmen after the meeting said the government was committed to the revitalization of the university system but added that it was constrained by the dire economic situation occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
