The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has lifted the ban on religious gatherings in the country.

Chairman of the Committee and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, BOSS MUSTAPHA, made the announcement during its daily briefing in Abuja.

The PTF Chairman explained that the decision was based on recommendations of the committee which were approved by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

According to him, the lifting of the restriction on worship places will be based on guidelines to be issued by the PTF and protocols agreed by state governments.

He said the President also approved the ban on the gathering of more than 20 people outside of the workplace.

MUSTAPHA also revealed that resources have been mobilized at State and Local Government levels to create public awareness on COVID-19 and to improve compliance with non-pharmaceutical interventions within communities.
