The Elders Council of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has resolved to ensure that the South-East produces the next president in 2023.

It mandated the President-General, Prof GEORGE OBIOZOR, and his executive members to begin consultation, with the Igbo socio-cultural and political elite.

In a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the Elders Council faulted the position of some leaders that zoning should be de-emphasized.

The elders said abandoning zoning should be after Ndigbo has taken its turn.

The Council mandated the Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership to work in consultation with other ethnic groups to realize the Igbo president objective.
