The World Bank Migration and Development report has shown that Diaspora remittances to Nigeria dropped by 4.65 billion dollars in one year, 

The report released showed that remittances dipped by 27.7 per cent from 21.45 billion dollars in 2019 to 16.8 billion dollars in 2020. 

A breakdown of the Migration and Development Brief showed that remittances to sub-Saharan Africa declined by an estimated 12.5 per cent in 2020 to 42 billion dollars.

The decline was almost entirely due to a 27.7 per cent decline in remittance flows into Nigeria, which alone accounted for over 40 per cent of remittance flows into the region.

The World Bank said that excluding Nigeria, remittance flows into Sub-Saharan African increased by 2.3 per cent.
