Flying Eagles Midfielder Daniel Daga Sentenced to Six Months by Norwegian Court

Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has been sentenced to six months in prison by a Norwegian court after being found guilty of committing a sexual act without consent. The 19-year-old, who plays for Molde FK, was also ordered to pay 10,000 Norwegian kroner in legal costs, according to TV 2 Norway.

The case relates to an incident reported to Norwegian authorities in April 2025, leading to charges under Section 297 of the Norwegian Penal Code, which addresses sexual activity without consent. During the trial, prosecutors requested a six-month sentence, which the court upheld.

Daga’s lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, stated that the player is disappointed with the verdict, maintains that the encounter was consensual, and intends to appeal. “He believes he is innocent and everything happened with consent,” Bolstad said, noting that the ruling is not yet legally binding.

In response, Molde FK described the situation as difficult and confirmed that Daga will not be included in the club’s matchday squad until further notice. Chairman Tarje Nordstrand Jacobsen said the club has a responsibility to handle the matter responsibly while respecting all parties involved.

Daga, who joined Molde ahead of the 2025 season, made 15 appearances and scored three goals for the club. Internationally, he represented Nigeria’s U-20 team and was the youngest player named in the squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
