Kwara United Relocate Home Matches to Lagos Amid NPFL Stadium Ban

Kwara United will play their remaining Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) home fixtures at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, following approval from the league at the club’s request.

The relocation comes as the club serves an indefinite stadium ban, imposed after the NPFL cited “unacceptable fan behaviour” during Kwara United’s rescheduled Matchday 23 fixture against Rivers United at their home ground in Ilorin.

The club explained that moving matches outside Ilorin is aimed at maintaining sporting fairness, noting that fellow Ogun State-based side Remo Stars are similarly battling relegation. Kwara United expressed concern that rival fans could instigate incidents, which might be unfairly attributed to them as the host club.

The decision to adopt the Mobolaji Johnson Arena as the temporary home venue was formally approved by the NPFL in a letter signed by Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi.

Kwara United will inaugurate their new home ground with a Matchday 30 clash against Rangers International on Sunday, March 15.
