Tinubu Says Nigeria Rescued from Brink of Bankruptcy, Economy Showing Signs of Recovery

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration has rescued the country from the edge of bankruptcy, emphasizing that the nation’s economy is gradually improving.

The President made the statement on Monday while hosting religious and traditional leaders at an interfaith breaking of fast at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Speaking at the gathering, Tinubu noted that his government inherited a difficult economic situation but had taken decisive steps to stabilise public finances and avert financial collapse.

“We have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy. It was very daunting and challenging when we took over. But today I can say with pride and joy that we have survived,” he said, adding that pensioners are gradually receiving relief and that signs of economic recovery are evident.

“I can report that the economy has turned the corner. It is getting better. Pensioners are gradually getting relief,” the President stated.

Tinubu further highlighted that state governments are now in a stronger financial position, no longer struggling to borrow funds to pay workers’ salaries.

He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, promising that his administration would continue to strengthen the economy, promote prosperity, and increase investments in critical sectors such as agriculture and education to ensure sustainable growth.

The President also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation and reaffirmed his commitment to faithfully discharging his responsibilities.

“I am just grateful, one person among millions, that I have been given the opportunity to serve. All I can do is promise that I will continue to be faithful in discharging my duty,” he said.

During the event, Tinubu acknowledged the role of religious and traditional leaders in fostering peace, stability, and moral guidance within their communities.
