The government of Ogun State has installed Oba Tajudeen Adeoye Olukunle as the new Onisale of Isale-Gbokoto in Yewa-North Local Government, reaffirming its commitment to grassroots development and traditional leadership as drivers of community progress.
The installation ceremony, which elevated Oba Olukunle to a Grade II traditional ruler and member of the Yewa Traditional Council, underscored the state government’s emphasis on peace, inclusive leadership, and the role of traditional institutions in local governance.
Representing Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, urged the monarch to prioritise peace-building and community cohesion within his domain.
He stressed that traditional institutions remain vital partners in governance and development. “The state government acknowledges the critical role of traditional institutions as a cornerstone of governance in peace-building and community development,” he said.
The Chairman of Yewa-North Local Government, Akinbode Olusola, congratulated the new monarch and described his installation as an opportunity to advance development in Isale-Gbokoto.
The Paramount Ruler of Yewa land and Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, represented by the Eselu of Iselu land, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, also congratulated the new monarch and encouraged collaboration with the traditional council and government to ensure effective leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Olukunle expressed gratitude to the government, traditional leaders, and the people of Isale-Gbokoto, pledging to govern with inclusiveness and a commitment to development.
The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rotimiolu Akinlesi, royal fathers, clerics, and members of the local legislative council, highlighting broad community and institutional support for the new monarch’s reign.
