Ogun TESCOM Pledges Support for Scout Activities in Public Schools

The Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu, has reaffirmed his agency’s commitment to promoting scouting among learners in public secondary schools.

Sanyaolu made the declaration in Abeokuta during a courtesy visit by executive members of the Scout Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Council, led by State Scout Commissioner, Pastor Olatunji Akinsanya.

Highlighting the positive impact of scouting on society, the TESCOM Chairman emphasized that engaging learners in voluntary organizations helps shape their character, citizenship, and personal growth. “We are working to instill discipline in our learners, and this aligns with the Scout Association's goals. It promotes character development, citizenship, and personal growth among young people through outdoor activities, community service, and leadership training,” he said.

Apostle Sanyaolu also announced plans to establish a committee to integrate scouting into extracurricular activities and to facilitate the construction of a dedicated secretariat for the State Scout Council.

Earlier, Pastor Akinsanya commended TESCOM’s transformative drive in public secondary education, stressing the importance of inculcating moral values among students. Dr. Tola Adenekan, Assistant Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association, praised Sanyaolu’s contributions to strengthening the State Scout Council and highlighted the association’s core values of duty, loyalty, and respect.
