The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has elected Chief Yemi Sanusi and 35 others as members of its State Executive Committee for a four-year term.
The election was ratified by voice affirmation from 1,180 delegates at the congress held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta and supervised by the APC Congress Committee chaired by Chief Wale Ohu alongside officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chief Yemi Sanusi was re-elected as State Chairman, with other key officials including Alhaja Aminat Adigun as Women Leader, Prince Aderibigbe Tella as Secretary, and Chief Yemi Adelani as Organising Secretary.
Governor Dapo Abiodun urged the party to embrace genuine internal democracy, replacing patronage politics with transparent and principled leadership. He stressed that electoral success would depend on discipline, grassroots mobilisation, and clear messaging.
Looking toward 2027, Abiodun called for deeper engagement across wards and local governments, honest communication of achievements, and inclusive outreach to undecided voters. He appealed to unsuccessful aspirants to remain committed to party unity.
Chief Wale Ohu described the consensus process as evidence of cohesion, while Sanusi thanked Governor Abiodun and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening the party.
He pledged to reinforce structures, promote fairness, and expand opportunities for young members, emphasising that discipline and accessibility would define the new leadership.
The congress marks a strategic reset for the APC in Ogun as the party prepares for future electoral contests.
