The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (SO-SAFE Corps) has thwarted an attempted cable theft in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, reinforcing its ongoing clampdown on infrastructure vandalism across Ogun State.
In a statement issued by the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, and conveyed through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the suspects were apprehended during a routine patrol by the Special Squad of the Ijebu Zonal Command.
The operation, led by Zonal Commander DCC Yemi Odukoya, intercepted three suspects riding a motorcycle in a suspicious manner around 2:15 a.m. on March 2, 2026, along the Ijagun axis. The suspects were identified as Wale Mosadoluwa (31), Adeleje Okunuga (30), and Anifowose Michael (33).
Preliminary interrogation revealed that Mosadoluwa allegedly confessed to engaging in cable theft activities since 2023. He reportedly disclosed that an associate, identified as Damilare—currently in a correctional facility—had earlier instructed him to retrieve tools such as a cutter from a concealed location for another operation.
Their plan, however, was cut short by the swift intervention of the patrol team.
Items recovered from the suspects include a large cutter, pliers, a screwdriver, and the motorcycle used in the attempted operation.
Ganzallo confirmed that the suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Area Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The latest interception underscores intensified night patrols and proactive surveillance by the Corps, particularly in areas vulnerable to infrastructure sabotage. With cable theft posing risks to power supply and public safety, authorities say coordinated enforcement will remain aggressive and uncompromising.
