No fewer than 261 interns under the Ogun State Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (OGUNTEACH) have received their engagement and posting letters, marking a fresh investment in grassroots education delivery across the state.

The letters were presented at the Secretariat of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where the Board Chairman, Olalekan Ifede, charged the beneficiaries to approach the two-year internship with seriousness and a service-driven mindset.

Ifede described the programme as a strategic platform designed not merely to provide stipends, but to build classroom capacity and groom future educators. He made it clear that the internship should be viewed as a professional opportunity rather than an entitlement, stressing that performance and commitment would determine future prospects.

In a forward-looking move, the Chairman disclosed that interns who demonstrate diligence—particularly those deployed to rural schools—would stand a strong chance of securing permanent employment at the end of the programme. Recommendations from host schools, he noted, would play a decisive role in that evaluation.

He further warned against attempts to influence postings, stating that any form of deployment manipulation could attract outright disqualification. Instead, he urged the interns to accept their placements in good faith and deliver measurable impact by teaching with dedication and treating learners with care and responsibility.

The initiative reinforces the Ogun State Government’s broader strategy to strengthen foundational education through structured teacher support and rural inclusion. By tying performance to long-term opportunities, the programme introduces accountability into internship engagement while addressing manpower gaps in underserved communities.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Aisha Hassan and Mr. Olusanmi Akinlabi expressed gratitude to the state government, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in them and remain committed throughout the duration of the programme.

With this latest cohort deployed, OGUNTEACH continues to function as a pipeline for talent development in the education sector—aligning short-term engagement with long-term workforce planning.
