Odumosu Foundation Distributes 8,000 Meals, Cash Grants in 30-Day Ramadan–Lent Outreach

The Asiwaju Odumosu Foundation has commenced its annual 30-day humanitarian outreach in Ijebu-Ode, combining large-scale meal distribution with direct cash grants to vulnerable households during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.

The initiative, which began on February 18 at the foundation’s office, is targeting children, widows and low-income families, with organisers confirming that more than 8,000 cooked meals were distributed within the first ten days. Alongside food support, selected beneficiaries are receiving financial grants designed to cushion rising living costs and stimulate small-scale economic activities.

Founder of the foundation, Oladapo Odumosu, said the dual intervention reflects a deliberate strategy that blends immediate relief with economic empowerment.

“This is a season of faith and sacrifice, but also a time for practical compassion,” he stated. “While reforms may promise long-term stability, families facing immediate hardship require tangible support now. Feeding today is essential, but empowering tomorrow is equally critical.”

The annual programme, instituted several years ago, has become a recurring welfare intervention in Ijebu-Ode and surrounding communities. This year’s edition unfolds against the backdrop of ongoing national economic reforms and inflationary pressures, which beneficiaries say have significantly increased food and household expenses.

According to the foundation, its broader humanitarian portfolio includes scholarships, medical assistance, educational grants and periodic empowerment schemes — all structured to strengthen household resilience and promote inclusive growth.

Beneficiaries who spoke at the event described the intervention as timely. They noted that beyond easing immediate hunger, the financial grants would enable petty trading and other micro-scale ventures capable of generating sustainable income.

Community leaders present commended the outreach for its transparency and organisation, urging other private stakeholders and diaspora Nigerians to replicate similar initiatives that complement government efforts during the current economic transition.

The foundation confirmed that the feeding and cash-empowerment programme will continue daily throughout the 30-day period, maintaining its focus on vulnerable populations across Ijebu-Ode and neighbouring communities.

With relief and empowerment running side by side, the outreach positions itself not merely as charity, but as a structured social support mechanism during a period many households consider economically challenging.
