Ogun State Police Command Releases TikTok Influencer Mirabel to Women Affairs Ministry Amid Ongoing Probe

The Ogun State Police Command has transferred TikTok influencer Abigeal Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel, to the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development after she voluntarily reported to the police over her widely circulated rape allegation.

According to Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Mirabel presented herself willingly, underwent a comprehensive medical examination and has been cooperating with investigators. Authorities stated that, in consideration of her welfare, she has been released into the care of the Ministry, which has undertaken to make her available as investigations continue.

The case first gained national traction after Mirabel posted emotional videos alleging a home invasion and sexual assault at her residence in Ogijo, Ogun State. The claims sparked widespread reactions, public donations and commentary from activists and celebrities. However, the narrative later faced scrutiny over reported inconsistencies, including the absence of supporting phone records and no visible signs of forced entry.

Following a reported conversation with activist VeryDarkMan in which she suggested she might not have been raped, calls emerged in some quarters for possible prosecution over alleged false claims.

Police say no arrests have been made and investigations remain ongoing, reiterating their commitment to handling sexual violence allegations with professionalism, sensitivity and adherence to due process. The development shifts the focus from social media debate to institutional review, as authorities work to establish the facts.
