Asake Dominates Spotify Nigeria Charts as Most-Streamed Artist of All Time

Global streaming platform Spotify has released its five-year data snapshot in Nigeria, revealing the evolving landscape of digital music consumption and the rising dominance of Nigerian acts on streaming platforms.

Leading the pack is Asake, who has been crowned the most-streamed artist of all time on Spotify Nigeria. The singer’s breakout success and consistent hit output have positioned him ahead of heavyweights such as Wizkid and Seyi Vibez, who occupy the second and third spots respectively.

The top five is completed by Burna Boy in fourth place and Davido in fifth, underscoring the strong global and domestic appeal of Nigeria’s music ecosystem.

Spotify also unveiled its ranking of the most-streamed songs of all time in Nigeria, with Asake again claiming the top spot. His hit single Remember emerged as the platform’s most-streamed track, reflecting widespread listener engagement and the song’s cultural resonance.

The remaining positions in the top five were dominated by contemporary Nigerian hits:

  • Dealer by Fireboy DML and Ayo Maff

  • Awolowo by Fido

  • Kese by Wizkid

  • Lonely At The Top by Asake

Spotify’s data further highlighted the continental influence of Nigerian music. On Spotify Kenya, tracks such as Asiwaju by Ruger, Rush by Ayra Starr, and Bandana ranked among the most-streamed, demonstrating the cross-border appeal of Nigerian Afrobeats.

In Ghana, the collaborative track Wotowoto Seasoning by Odumodublvck and Black Sherif topped the charts, while Asake’s “Lonely At The Top” secured second position.

Kenyan singer Bein also featured prominently with the hit song Inauma claiming fourth place in Kenya’s rankings.

The streaming figures reinforce the growing dominance of African music on digital platforms and the expanding global footprint of Nigerian artists. As streaming continues to shape music consumption, artists like Asake and Wizkid remain at the forefront of the continent’s digital revolution.

With Spotify marking five years in Nigeria, the data signals a thriving ecosystem where local content drives engagement and positions Nigerian music as a major force in the global industry.
