The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, has pledged continued collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to strengthen peace and security in the council area.
The commitment followed a courtesy visit by the NSCDC Divisional Officer, SC Fagbohun John, and his team to the Local Government Secretariat. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between security agencies and the local administration in maintaining a safe and harmonious environment.
During the meeting, SC Fagbohun John introduced his team and outlined the core mandates of the NSCDC, emphasising the need for institutional collaboration to ensure effective security operations within the locality. He commended the local government for its achievements and appreciated its inclusion of the Corps in Peace and Security meetings — a step he described as vital to community safety.
The NSCDC representative also requested logistical support from the local government, including renovation of the divisional office, provision of accommodation for the divisional officer, and mobility assistance to enhance operational efficiency.
Responding to the requests, Chairman Avoseh warmly welcomed the NSCDC delegation and described Ipokia as the most peaceful local government in the state. He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to partnership with the Corps, stating that the requests would be reviewed with a view to strengthening security infrastructure and operational collaboration.
He assured residents that the local government would continue prioritising safety, security, and peaceful coexistence, recognising that sustainable development thrives in an environment of stability.
The visit underscores growing efforts by security agencies and local authorities to deepen cooperation in tackling emerging security challenges while maintaining community confidence and public order.
