Abiodun Rewards Ogun Teacher with Brand New Car for National Honour

Governor Dapo Abiodun has presented a brand new car to Mr. Solanke Taiwo, a primary school teacher at Ansa-Ur-Deen Main School I, Kemta Lawa, Abeokuta, for emerging as Nigeria’s Overall Best Primary School Teacher.

The presentation took place at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, in the presence of the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Abayomi Arigbagbu, and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Mariam Oloko.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Arigbagbu attributed the teacher’s national recognition to the administration’s sustained investment in education and ongoing reforms aimed at revitalising the sector. He said the state’s consistent success at both state and national levels reflects tangible transformation driven by deliberate policy direction.

The commissioner cited Ogun’s strong showing in external academic competitions, particularly the JETS contests, where students from the state secured 18 out of 24 available awards in a particular year. He noted that such dominance is the result of focused investment and structured support for schools and teachers over the past six years.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continuous capacity building for teachers through workshops, seminars, digitisation initiatives and the deployment of AI-powered teaching platforms. He stressed that empowering educators remains central to sustaining academic excellence in the state.

In his remarks, Mr. Solanke Taiwo expressed gratitude to the governor for fostering a conducive environment for teaching and learning, pledging to continue delivering his best in service to the state.

The gesture, according to government officials, is designed not only to celebrate excellence but also to incentivise teachers across Ogun State to raise the bar in classroom delivery and student performance.
