Abiodun’s Business-Friendly Policies Lauded at 2026 Gateway International Trade Fair

The President of the Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade and Investment (OGUNCCIMA), Lion Niyi Osiyemi, has commended Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for fostering an enabling business environment that allows enterprises of all sizes to thrive in Ogun State.

The praise came during the opening ceremony of the 2026 edition of the Gateway International Trade Fair, themed “Promoting Businesses Through Partnership,” held at the MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Laderin, Abeokuta.

Lion Osiyemi lauded the Governor for his consistent support, which has facilitated the successful hosting of six consecutive editions of the Trade Fair. He urged participants to maximise the platform to expand their networks and forge partnerships crucial for business growth.

Highlighting the challenges posed by recent torrential rains, Osiyemi appealed to the State government to support the construction of a permanent pavilion for OGUNCCIMA to safeguard against future damages.

In his keynote address, Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, emphasised the Trade Fair’s role as a consistent platform for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to showcase products and build connections that drive both enterprise and state-level economic prosperity.

“Ogun State has been deliberate in providing the necessary infrastructure and implementing policies to create an enabling environment for businesses. Both small and large businesses are benefiting. The investments flowing into the State demonstrate the positive results of these efforts, with more in the pipeline,” he said.

Abiodun also reaffirmed his administration’s continued support for OGUNCCIMA and applauded private sector players and investors for consistently supporting the Trade Fair.

Represented by Asiwaju (Dr.) Michael Cole, the National President of NACCIMA, Engr. (Dr.) Jani Ibrahim, praised the Governor for his business-friendly policies, noting that Ogun State has become a preferred destination for investors.

Dame Adesola Adebutu, in her goodwill message, commended the administration for sustaining the Trade Fair for six consecutive years and urged residents to support commerce-friendly leadership. She also encouraged traders to join chambers of commerce, drawing parallels with practices in China.

Exhibitors, including Mr. Razak Adeyemi and Mr. Matthew Adebayo, described the turnout as impressive, commending OGUNCCIMA and the State government for the success of this year’s edition.

The Gateway International Trade Fair, organised annually by OGUNCCIMA in collaboration with the Ogun State Government, continues to provide a platform for networking, business expansion and the promotion of economic growth across the state.
