Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, was among key panelists at the second edition of the National Economic Council (NEC) Conference held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, where deliberations focused on advancing inclusive growth and sustainable national development under the Renewed Hope National Development Plan.
The high-level meeting brought together governors, ministers and other national stakeholders to examine how coordinated policy actions can drive economic resilience, social inclusion and long-term sustainability across the country.
During the panel session, Governor Abiodun highlighted the strategic role of subnational governments in deepening economic reforms and aligning state-level initiatives with the Federal Government’s broader development agenda. He stressed that states must remain proactive in attracting investments, upgrading infrastructure and boosting sectoral productivity to expand opportunities for shared prosperity.
According to him, sustainable growth requires deliberate state-driven initiatives that create jobs, support enterprise development and strengthen value chains across agriculture, industry and services.
Discussions at the conference also examined practical frameworks to ensure that economic expansion delivers measurable benefits to citizens in all regions. Participants emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between federal and state governments, policy innovation and people-centred approaches that prioritise impact over rhetoric.
Governor Abiodun noted that the NEC platform provided an avenue for state leaders to exchange ideas, harmonise strategies and reaffirm their collective commitment to accelerating development at both national and subnational levels.
The conference formed part of ongoing efforts to drive effective implementation of the Renewed Hope National Development Plan through coordinated action and results-oriented governance.
