TASFUED Celebrates 21-Year-Old Graduate Who Bags Perfect 5.0 CGPA Ahead of 17th Convocation

Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has commended Bukola Ifeoluwa Osunrinde for emerging as its overall best graduating student after recording a rare perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0 in the 2024/2025 academic session.

The university described the feat as exceptional, noting that the 21-year-old premier education university in Nigeria was celebrating Osunrinde’s achievement with “immense pride” for exemplifying academic rigour, discipline and determination.

Osunrinde will be formally honoured during TASFUED’s 17th convocation ceremony scheduled for January 29, 2026. The event will also feature the conferment of Honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc., honoris causa) degrees on three eminent Nigerians — the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; and elder statesman and former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Adekunle Olanrewaju Adeogun, disclosed this at a press briefing held at the Senate Chamber over the weekend to herald the convocation ceremony.

According to Prof. Adeogun, a total of 4,785 students will graduate from the 2024/2025 set of regular students. He explained that the graduating class comprises four First Class degree holders, 1,466 Second Class Upper Division graduates, 2,768 Second Class Lower Division graduates, while 492 and 19 students earned Third Class and Pass degrees respectively.

Describing the convocation as a celebration of progress, national recognition and renewed commitment to excellence, the Acting Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed TASFUED’s ambition to remain Africa’s leading university of education. He attributed the institution’s achievements to a peaceful academic environment, a stable academic calendar and a serene atmosphere conducive to learning.

“One of the values we uphold as a university is academic excellence. Hence, it is with immense pride that I highlight the outstanding achievement of Bukola Ifeoluwa Osunrinde, who achieved a perfect CGPA of 5.0,” Prof. Adeogun said.

“Indeed, this is a remarkable feat achieved through academic rigour and determination. She has distinguished herself, and her achievement reflects the values of excellence and scholarship that our institution upholds. We honour and celebrate her.”

The university said Osunrinde’s success stands as an inspiration to current and future students, reinforcing TASFUED’s reputation for producing high-calibre education professionals committed to national development.
