President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, marking a historic milestone as the first female to hold the position in the institution’s 64-year history.
Dr. Odusote, 54, currently serves as Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus, and has been with the Law School since 2001, contributing in multiple capacities including Head of Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus. She is also a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University, UK, with numerous publications in both local and international law journals.
Her appointment, which takes effect on January 10, 2026, is for a four-year term, succeeding Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose tenure concludes on January 9, 2026.
As Director-General, Dr. Odusote will assume responsibility for the academic leadership, administrative management, and strategic direction of the Nigerian Law School across all its campuses, steering the institution toward continued excellence in legal education and professional training.
The appointment has been widely celebrated as a significant step for gender representation in Nigeria’s legal education system, reflecting the growing recognition of women in leadership positions within the country’s legal and academic institutions.
