CAN Begins 2026 Week of Prayer in Ijebu-Ode, Seeks Restoration and Community Renewal

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ijebu-Ode Local Government and Ijebu-Ode South Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced its 2026 Week of Prayer, popularly known as Adura Odun, with a call for spiritual renewal and the restoration of lost glory within the community.

The annual programme, which began on Monday, is being held under the theme “My Year of Restoration of the Lost Glory.” As is customary, the Week of Prayer combines intensive prayer sessions with courtesy visits to traditional and community leaders across Ijebu-Ode.

Activities on the first day featured a delegation of CAN leaders and members paying homage to the Awujale of Ijebuland at the Awujale’s Palace, where prayers were offered for peace, unity and sustainable development of Ijebu-Ode and Ogun State as a whole. The delegation also visited the Olisa of Ijebu-Ode as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the church and traditional institutions.

CAN leaders described the programme as a platform for seeking divine intervention in the affairs of the community, while also reinforcing the importance of harmony among religious and cultural stakeholders.

The Week of Prayer is expected to continue throughout the week with various spiritual activities, including worship services, intercessory prayers and further visitations, all centred on themes of restoration, renewal and collective progress for the people of Ijebu-Ode.

Organisers expressed optimism that the programme would foster moral rebirth, social cohesion and positive transformation across the community as the New Year unfolds.
