Ogun Civil Servants Urged to Embrace Reforms as Abiodun Pushes Investment Agenda

Civil and public servants in Ogun State have been urged to fully align with ongoing reforms of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, as the state intensifies efforts to consolidate its position as Nigeria’s investment destination of choice.

The charge was given by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, during an interaction with journalists in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, in the first working week of the year, while assessing workers’ readiness and commitment for duties in the New Year.

Onasanya emphasized that civil servants, as the engine room of governance, play a critical role in translating government policies into tangible outcomes. He called on workers to remain committed to the effective implementation of the administration’s key programmes as outlined in its I.S.E.Y.A. development agenda.

Describing Governor Dapo Abiodun’s New Year broadcast as timely and comprehensive, the Head of Service said the address captured the true essence of governance and reaffirmed the administration’s focus on inclusive development, improved welfare, and the provision of critical social amenities. He commended the Governor for acknowledging the contributions of workers and the general populace in sustaining stability and growth in the state.

According to Onasanya, Ogun State has recorded notable progress across several performance indicators, including increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and improved Gross Development Product, achievements he attributed largely to the dedication and professionalism of the state’s workforce.

He added that the growing reputation of the Ogun State Civil Service as one of the most efficient in the country was a testament to sustained reforms and capacity-building initiatives.

“I want to thank His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for revving up the engine of government through continuous capacity-building initiatives. By the grace of God, efforts at enhancing workers’ capacity will be intensified to ensure smoother government operations,” he said.

The Head of Service urged civil servants to sustain a culture of excellence, drawing inspiration from the legacy of the state’s founding fathers who laid a strong foundation for an efficient and professional civil service. He stressed that Ogun State must continue to lead by example and not relent in its pursuit of excellence.

Meanwhile, civil servants across various ministries expressed appreciation to the Governor for the end-of-year bonus and welfare packages received in 2025. Speaking separately, Mr. Lateef Shittu of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mrs. Stella Olasode of the Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, and Mrs. Kabirat Obadimu of the Bureau of Service Matters pledged renewed commitment, loyalty, and dedication to duty in the New Year.
