The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the rescue of two kidnapped victims and the arrest of two suspects connected to the abduction.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a press statement on Wednesday. According to Wakil, the incident began on October 25, 2025, when Stanley Abuchi, a 32-year-old resident of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi, reported to the ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters that five unidentified individuals had attempted to kidnap him at his home. When they failed to locate him, the suspects abducted his girlfriend, Joy Stanley (23), and his friend, Adam Bala (24).
Acting on the report, detectives from the ‘B’ Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly launched an operation. The team intercepted the suspects in a red Mercedes-Benz along Gidan Mai Jos Road, resulting in the arrest of Abubakar Musa (32), a resident of Jos. Both abducted victims were rescued unharmed.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects demanded a ransom of ₦400,000 from their intended target and stole property valued at ₦60,000, along with other personal items,” the statement added.
Further investigations led to the arrest of another suspect, Dahiru Umar (31), from Yandoya, Jos, Plateau State, on October 27, 2025. Police recovered a handcuff believed to have been used during the crime. Wakil noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend three other fleeing suspects identified as Ibrahim Hassan (alias B13), Pigo, and Musa (surname unknown).
He assured that the police remain committed to ensuring the arrest of all those involved and thanked members of the public for their continued cooperation in maintaining security across the state. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
