In a move aimed at strengthening grassroots democracy, the Ogun State Government has appointed 1,200 political assistants to serve as change agents across the state’s 236 wards.
The Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, who announced the initiative, said the appointments were part of the administration’s strategy to enhance civic engagement and bridge the gap between government and the people.
According to Akinmade, five assistants were selected from each ward and will be tasked with articulating the needs of their communities, providing accurate feedback to government, and supporting the delivery of democratic dividends at the local level.
“This initiative is in fulfillment of Governor Abiodun’s campaign promise to carry every ward along in his administration’s development programs and run an all-inclusive government,” Akinmade stated.
He urged the appointees to work diligently to foster development within their wards, local governments, and the state as a whole.
