The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has directed all visa applicants to provide a complete list of their social media usernames—from all platforms used over the past five years—when filling out the DS-160 form.
In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the embassy emphasized that applicants must certify the accuracy of the information before signing and submitting their applications. Omission of required social media handles may result in visa denial and disqualification from future U.S. visa applications.
This expanded requirement follows earlier changes affecting specific visa categories—particularly student (F, M) and exchange (J) visas—where applicants were instructed to make their social media profiles public to facilitate enhanced vetting.
