The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, has confirmed the death of three persons in a multiple road crash that occurred in Auchi, over the weekend.

Matthew who attributed the accident to brake failure, disclosed that it involved a Dangote truck and three other vehicles, including a Mercedes Benz GLK.

It was gathered that the accident occurred on the Auchi-Benin highway, by Omega Fire church, when the truck heading towards Benin rammed into three vehicles, killing three persons and injuring one on the spot.

“Six persons were involved in the accident, three died including two male and one female adults while two others escaped unhurt.

“Four persons were in the Mercedes, three of them died and one was injured,” the FRSC boss stated.

He charged truck drivers to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles by their owners and to be very conscious of other road users by not engaging in speed so that when they have issues, they can easily control the vehicle to safety.
