The Edo State Police Command has promised to rescue three seminarians kidnapped from the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary, Ivianokpodi-Agenebode, on July 11.
The attack also left one officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps dead.
Edo Police spokesperson, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, said in a statement on Sunday that the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has been personally leading the rescue mission.
He explained that special police units, including the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, were deployed immediately after the incident.
A new Tactical Division has also been set up in Ivieukwa community to boost security and intelligence gathering in the area.
Yamu added that the police are working closely with other security agencies and experts, using advanced intelligence to ensure the safe release of the boys.
Speaking on a viral video showing the abducted seminarians, Yamu urged the public to stay calm.
The police command also expressed sympathy to the affected families and praised them for their patience and cooperation.
Yamu stressed that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property in Edo State and will continue to give updates as progress is made without putting the boys at risk.
