An Ogun State High Court sitting in Sagamu has granted an interim order restraining the state government from demolishing or interfering with multiple properties belonging to former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, pending further court proceedings.
The ex parte ruling, delivered in suit number HCS/371/2025, came after Daniel and his wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel, filed an affidavit of urgency to prevent the state from executing quit notices issued on August 8, 2025, against the properties. The affected sites include the Asoludero Court private residence, Conference Hotels Limited in Sagamu, and its annex — all of which had been served with contravention and demolition notices in July.
The Ogun State government had alleged that the buildings were constructed without planning permits and lacked proper setbacks. However, Justice of the High Court said the matter required “immediate intervention” to preserve the claimants’ right to quiet possession until the substantive motion is heard.
The court’s order bars the government, its agents, or anyone acting on its behalf from carrying out demolitions, enforcing the quit notices, or trespassing on the properties, which span about 1.659 hectares in the Government Reservation Area, Sagamu, covered by a Certificate of Occupancy issued in 2010.
Similar restraining orders were also issued in related suits involving Conference Hotel Limited and Blue Chapel Limited, with the court emphasizing the urgency of preventing any interference until legal arguments are fully considered.
The hearing for the interlocutory injunction has been scheduled for August 19, 2025.
