Imoru Ijebu was steeped in grief yesterday as the community laid to rest its revered monarch, Oba Munirudeen Adeposi Bashorun, the Orugbogbo II, who passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025. The interment drew an outpouring of mourners, including dignitaries, clerics, community leaders, and residents who gathered to pay their last respects to the late ruler.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and House of Representatives member for Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, and Ijebu North East Federal Constituency, Barrister Olufemi Adeleke Ogunbanwo, were among those present to honor the monarch’s memory.
Described as a loving and selfless leader, Oba Bashorun was celebrated for his unwavering contributions to the development of Imoru Ijebu and Odogbolu Local Government during his reign.
Speaking at the solemn event, Barrister Ogunbanwo—fondly known as Omo-Iwa—expressed heartfelt condolences to the people of Imoru Ijebu, urging them to preserve and build upon the late king’s legacy of service. He also met with Islamic clerics at the ceremony, thanking them and other attendees for their solidarity during the period of mourning.
The federal lawmaker pledged his continued support to the monarch’s immediate family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the king’s soul. He wished the community strength and unity in navigating the profound loss.
For Imoru Ijebu, the day was more than a farewell—it was a call to uphold the values and vision of a monarch whose reign left a deep imprint on the town’s history.
