Fresh from sealing a historic promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Barau Football Club have received a massive morale boost from their chief backer — Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin — who gifted players ₦17.5 million and 35 motorcycles to mark the milestone.
At a reception in Kano, Senator Barau also unveiled seasoned tactician Isah Ladan Bosso as the club’s new Technical Adviser, signalling his intent to make the newly promoted side a serious contender for the 2025/2026 NPFL title.
Nicknamed the Maliya Boys, Barau FC climbed from the Nigeria National League (NNL) this season, and the Deputy Senate President believes the squad — bolstered by new signings from multiple clubs — has the quality to not only challenge for the league but also reach the continental stage.
“This promotion is historic. With dedication, discipline, and hard work, you can bring home the NPFL trophy,” Senator Barau told the players.
Club President Shawall Barau Jibrin and Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji praised the Senator’s consistent support, while team representative Usman Maidubji said the gesture would be remembered as a landmark in youth and sports development.
The combination of political backing, strategic signings, and an experienced coach has set the stage for Barau FC’s debut NPFL campaign — one the club hopes will end with silverware.
