The Consolidated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State, will on Monday, August 11, 2025, host a special event to commemorate the 2025 International Youth Day, bringing together leading voices in governance, public service, and youth development.
Chief Segun Sowunmi, Director of the socio-political organisation The Alternative, will deliver the keynote address on the theme “Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future.” Renowned for his incisive perspectives and advocacy for inclusive governance, Sowunmi is expected to offer deep insights on unlocking the potential of young Nigerians to drive national growth.
The programme will also feature an engaging panel session to spark conversations around leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic responsibility, providing a platform for robust dialogue and practical solutions.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Rafiu Alarape, revealed that youths from various walks of life — including students from tertiary institutions — are expected to participate. Adding to the speaker lineup is Commander Tijani Rabe, Ogun State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), who will address the critical nexus between youth development, security, and the fight against drug abuse.
According to the Correspondent Chapel, the event will serve as a hub for idea exchange, mentorship, and networking — empowering young Nigerians to take decisive steps toward building a sustainable and prosperous future for themselves and the nation.
