Again, Police Rescue Kidnap Victims in Edo

As part of its intense effort in making Edo a crime free state, the State Police Command has rescued another two kidnapped victims.

The incident which happened on the 18th of April, 2025 at about 9.15pm is a testament to the commitment gear towards tackling criminality in the State by the new commissioner of police, CP Monday Agbonika.

According to a press statement by the police spokesman, CSP Moses Yamu, the rescue was in furtherance to the case reported on the 14th of April, 2025 at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Iyamho, where a woman and her sister were kidnapped after their abductors shot and fatally wounded the woman’s husband at Oluoke community.

“The injured man was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical Doctor on duty.

“The DPO, Anti Kidnapping team in Edo North, and Operation Rescue in company of Vigilantes/Hunters imminently mobilized and went after the kidnappers in order to rescue the victims and arrest the kidnappers.

CSP Yamu said this resilience and determination by the operatives led to the rescue of the two women, namely, Esther Friday, 32 years  and Joy Iregbeyen, 23 years, whom the kidnappers abandoned and ran away owing to the unbearable pressure mounted by the security teams.

“Though the kidnappers shot one of the women on the foot out of frustration, she survive and is currently responding to treatment.

CP Monday Agbonika is working asidiously on strategies that would cub further crime and deter criminals within the state, Yamu added.
