Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to citizens’ welfare, promising to ensure that Lagosians enjoy the full dividends of democracy through strategic collaboration with the federal government.
Speaking at the 25th annual Lagos State Thanksgiving Service, themed “Harvest of Thanksgiving,” held at Tafawa Balewa Square yesterday, Sanwo-Olu highlighted the achievements of 2024, which he attributed to the bold policies implemented by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“These policies have brought significant growth across various sectors, positioning Nigeria positively on the global stage and attracting increased foreign direct investment. We are committed to sustaining this momentum into the New Year,” he said.
The Governor outlined key priorities for the year, including ensuring reliable and affordable electricity in Lagos state and conducting local government elections.
He reassured residents that his administration would continue to collaborate closely with the state legislature and other stakeholders to achieve these goals.
Sanwo-Olu also used the occasion to call on residents to cultivate a spirit of gratitude.
“We must thank God for our individual progress and the collective development of Lagos State. This thanksgiving is a reminder of how far we’ve come and the bright future that lies ahead.”
The state’s Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, echoed the governor’s sentiments, urging residents to approach their “harvest of thanksgiving” with diligence and a positive mindset.
Among the attendees were the governor’s wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and his wife, Oluremi; former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and his wife, Bolanle; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa; state government officials; and religious leaders.
