The Federal Ministry of Works has welcomed a new Permanent Secretary, Engr. Olufunsho Olusesan Adebiyi, who succeeds Dr. Yakubu Adams Kofarmata. The transition took place during a modest ceremony at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja.
This was announced in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed.
In his farewell address to the Management and Staff of the Ministry, the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Kofarmata, commended the staff for their cooperation during his tenure and urged them to extend the same support to his successor.
“I beg of you, extend the same hands of cooperation, support, and comradeship to him, and I am sure you will never regret it,” Kofarmata said.
In his acceptance speech, Engr. Adebiyi lauded Kofarmata’s track record, highlighting his dedication to the Ministry and the mentorship he provided to staff.
“Many of the Ministry’s staff have learned a lot from working with him. He has always been there for the staff, ensuring that the right things were done,” Adebiyi said.
He called for continued dedication and cooperation, emphasizing the significant challenges faced by the Ministry and the nation.
“I want to assure you that I will do my best by the Grace of God. The challenges are enormous before us, but I am sure we will overcome them together,” he added.
Adebiyi addressed concerns about the perceived lopsided distribution of projects across geopolitical zones, noting the need to resolve such issues amicably.
“One region accuses the Ministry of not receiving as much attention as others, and the others do the same. With God, these issues will be resolved,” he assured.
He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to delivering on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate to provide critical road infrastructure in line with the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Engr. Adebiyi joins the Ministry from the State House, while Dr. Kofarmata has been redeployed to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) for a new posting.
