Reps Move To Strengthen Nigeria, South-Korea Relationship


The House of Representatives has concluded arrangements to strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and the Republic of South Korea. The newly appointed Chairman of the Nigeria-South Korea Friendship Group Committee, Hon. Kolawole Akinlayo, made this known in an interactive session in Abuja. 


He disclosed that he will hold a strategic meeting with the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria next week to achieve the goal. Akinlayo also disclosed that the parley aims to provide an opportunity to discuss the bilateral relationship between both countries.


Calling for an amicable resolution to the ongoing political crisis in South Korea, Akinlayo expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the House , Dr. Tajudeen Abass for founding reposing the confidence in him to lead the Friendship Group Committee.


Speaker Abbas had during a plenary, described the creation of the Friendship Groups as “fulfillment of the key promise made at the commencement of the 10th Assembly.”


Explaining the essence of the proposed parley with the South Korean envoy, he noted: “I will advise all the citizens to give peace a chance. They should take it easy and stay away from violence and make sure they protect the public institutions.


“I also advise them to obey the rule of law and stick to the rules of engagement. I wish to advise them to be civil and also give the President the chance to perform his functions and allow peace to reign in that country.”
