Panic as tanker spills diesel on Lagos highway

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) averted a potential disaster after a fully laden diesel tanker spilled its contents along the main carriageway at the Charity axis in the Oshodi Oke/Anthony area of Lagos State.

The incident, which threatened commuters, residents, and surrounding infrastructure, prompted a swift response from LASTMA officers and other emergency agencies, including the Lagos State Fire Service. Their combined efforts contained the spillage and mitigated the risks, preventing what could have escalated into a major catastrophe.

The affected area was immediately cordoned off to safeguard lives and property, while LASTMA officials managed traffic to minimise disruptions and ensure road users’ safety. The coordinated response successfully neutralised the risk of fire and environmental damage.
