The Ogun State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Bukola Olopade on his recent appointment as Director-General (DG) of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
Hon. Olopade, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun State, was appointed to the position on Thursday by President Bola Tinubu.
Mr. Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, Chairman of SWAN Ogun State, praised the appointment, calling it a perfect fit and noting that the President has placed a round peg in a round hole.
Ogunsiji referred to Olopade as a "Pathfinder," emphasizing his consistent ability to blaze new trails in various sectors. He added, "On behalf of everyone at SWAN Ogun State, I congratulate our leader, Hon. Olopade, on this well-deserved appointment. It is clear that the Presidency is committed to transforming the sports sector."
He further commended Olopade as a trusted sports technocrat, acknowledging his wealth of knowledge, experience, and strong connections. Ogunsiji expressed confidence that, in collaboration with Mallam Shehu Dikko, Olopade will bring about positive change and transformation in Nigerian sports.
Hon. Olopade currently serves as the Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited (NSML), a leading sports marketing company behind major events such as the Gold Label Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, Abeokuta 10km Race, Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon, and the Remo Ultra Race, among others. He also chairs the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the upcoming Gateway Games 2024 National Sports Festival.
