Five Arrested in Ogun State for Burglary and Theft of Cable Wires

The Ogun State Police have confirmed the arrest of five individuals linked to a burglary and theft ring operating in Ijebu Ode and its vicinity. The suspects, identified as 32-year-old Emmanuel "Ozon," 39-year-old Samuel Sunday Idoko, 21-year-old Tolulope Ilesanmi, 29-year-old Sanusi Daniel, and 20-year-old Ogunkoya Victor "Emo," were apprehended following reports from victims.

Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola stated that the arrests stemmed from a complaint received on October 4, 2024, regarding a member of the syndicate. At approximately 8:30 PM, information led officers to the Ijebu Ilese Toll Gate, where they successfully apprehended Emmanuel M. During questioning, he admitted to his involvement and helped police locate the other four suspects.

The group reportedly targeted electronics stores, including a burglary at Anayo Sunday James's shop at Bobadara Junction on February 20, 2024. They also stole armored cable wires from transformers on Igbeba Road and other locations in Ijebu Ode. Recovered items from the suspects include various tools such as an iron cutter, drilling machine, cutting machine, hammer, school driver, and iron chisel.

Odutola mentioned that the investigation is ongoing to capture additional members of the group and recover more stolen property.
