Palliative Work to Commence on Lagos-Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Road Next Week

Motorists traveling the heavily used Lagos-Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode road can expect relief soon, as palliative work on the damaged sections of the road is set to begin next Monday. The project is anticipated to be completed by the second week of December this year, with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun praising President Bola Tinubu for his prompt response.

During an inspection of the road's deteriorating sections in Sagamu, Minister of Works Dr. Dave Umahi expressed concern over the road’s poor condition, which has caused significant hardship for drivers. He assured the public that the federal government is committed to addressing the issue before year-end.

Accompanied by Governor Abiodun, the Minister stated, “I’m here on behalf of Mr. President to implement necessary measures to alleviate the suffering of our people.” He noted the identification of three critical areas in need of urgent attention and emphasized the government's focus on the citizens' welfare.

Umahi announced the formation of an action committee that includes state officials to coordinate the work. He also mentioned that a capable contractor, Hitech, has been identified for the repairs, covering a total of 120 kilometers across two carriageways.

He promised immediate action, stating, “By Monday, you will see work underway. The goal is to have all palliative measures completed by mid-December.” Additionally, solar lights will be installed along the entire stretch to enhance safety.

Earlier, Governor Abiodun highlighted the numerous complaints he has received from motorists regarding the road's condition and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making it more navigable. He thanked President Tinubu for his attentiveness to the people's needs and commended the Minister for his dedication to the task. The Governor assured residents of the 17 southern states and all Nigerians that they would soon enjoy a smoother driving experience on the road.
