Nigeria's tennis players will compete against South Africa next year in the Davis Cup Playoffs, aiming for a spot in World Group II.
According to the latest update from the Davis Cup website on October 7, 2024, the Nigerian team, led by Coach Benson Ishicheli, will face a higher-ranked South African team to determine who advances to the prestigious group.
South Africa, currently ranked 57th in the world, will host the matches, which will be played in a home-and-away format at venues chosen by the host country.
Nigeria, ranked 82nd, earned its place in the World Group II playoffs through outstanding performances during the Africa Group III Qualifiers in July. Alongside Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Namibia will also be vying for a spot in World Group II through the playoffs.
The matches are scheduled to take place over the weekend of January 31 to February 1, 2025, or February 1-2, 2025, at the discretion of the home nation.
The complete draw for the World Group II playoffs was conducted today at the ITF Office in London and is available on the Davis Cup website.
