Comoros President AZALI ASSOUMANI has chaired a cabinet meeting in his first public appearance since being wounded in a knife attack by a soldier last week, government footage showed.

The 65-year-old president had not been seen since September 13 since the attack during the funeral of a religious leader on the outskirts of the capital Moroni.

The government noted that his wounds were not severe and that he was recovering well.
