On September 15th, Abuja's Velodrome hosted SuperFight 03, a mesmerizing showcase of Dambe, Nigeria’s traditional martial art, that captivated the city and drew spectators from across the nation. The event, which saw the venue filled to capacity with both tourists and locals, celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage with a series of electrifying matches.
The action-packed evening saw six fighters earn their spots in the upcoming Dambe Warriors League Season 04, while three champions were crowned for Season 03. The event was attended by representatives from the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, as well as the Federal Ministry of Tourism, both of which officially endorsed the Dambe Warriors League.
Chidi Aninya, co-Founder of Dambe Warriors, expressed pride in the event’s success, stating, “Our vision was to unite Nigeria through our traditions, arts, and culture. SuperFight 03 has done just that and showcased our 1,000-year-old heritage in a spectacular way. We’re thrilled with the event’s impact on promoting tourism, commerce, and national pride.”
In the Lightweight division, KADDARA and DAGE secured their places in the professional ranks of Season 04 with victories by decision. The Lightweight championship saw YAR MAGE defend his title against MAGE and NASSAWAWA with a dramatic performance.
Middleweight competitors BIYAR and KANSILA advanced to the next season, with KANSILA delivering a stunning first-round knockout. SHAABAN emerged victorious over DOGON MESSI to claim the Middleweight Championship.
The Heavyweight division featured a dramatic lineup, with Russian fighter CHERNYSH narrowly defeated by Nigerian MOTA in an intense match that went into extra time. Polish contender MATEUSZ “WHITE MAMBA” edged out DAN YELLOW with a decisive knee strike. The night concluded with ALI KANIN BELLO (“AKB”) and #1 ranked YANSANDA battling for the Heavyweight Championship, with YANSANDA emerging victorious in a thrilling contest.
